"What is Love!"

There are so many different ways to say that four letter word. Personally, I believe that actions speak louder than words. Now we all have hear the verse "there is no greater love than to lay ones life down life for a friend" but honestly I do not think that we really know the meaning behind those words.
Jesus was not only calling his disciples his friends, but every living person to every walk on Earth. How could we even imagine such an encompassing love? That meant that not only was he dyeing for those who believed in him but even the Pharisees who pushed Pilot to the brink so as to crucify Jesus. I'd like to say I have that kind of love. The kind where it does not matter to me what you have done in your past, I will love you and continue to love you even when you mess up.
I think that's why so many people are called to the married life. So that they can see the love of God through a life binding covenant with this person who is going to love you and be with you until God calls you into his embrace. I know that that if I had never met Ben (my boyfriend of now 14 months), I would not be able to understand as well as I do just how much God loves me. Now I'm not claiming to be an expert on this or any topic! Quite the opposite, I am still learning and wish to help me readers see this love, because it really is the most beautiful thing in the universe.

For many people Gods love comes into question when someone close to them dies. I know it was that way for me, along with many other life events... But, once you have had time to really look back on what that person meant to you and what has happened since you heard the news. You may realize that not only was God with you, he was pushing you forward, holding you up when you felt like you couldn't stand anymore, being the light in the overwhelming and encompassing darkness that you felt, and never ever leaving you alone. That last part is the most important. One way that I like to picture God in these moments is like this: imagine a little kid who absolutely adores his siblings and follows them around everywhere trying to do everything they do and more and constantly telling them that they love them. All the while the sibling gets so used to the kid being there that they start to tune him out, maybe even ignore him completely. While we are the ones who adore God and give him all the praise that we can, we do not do it all the days of our lives. We should be the ones annoying God with our praise and telling him how much we love him, but he will never ignore us, He will never take us for granted!
You want to know what love is?
Look at the cross
Look in to the eyes of our savior and see what he has done for you knowing exactly the sins that you would commit and will commit
Then
Think about everyone in the world:
slaves
soldiers (both good and bad)
terrorists
everyone
everyone around the world
all for the same reason that he died for you.
And he calls us his friends. There could be no greater honor.
