We are an Inpatient World

"For in hope we are saved. Now hope that sees for itself is not hope. For who hopes for what one sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait with endurance. In the same way, the spirit too comes to the aid for our weakness, for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible goranings." - Romans 8:24-26

Patience is probably one of the hardest virtues to gain, for not only it is patience with those around us but also patients with God. This is literally my biggest struggle! I am possible the most impatient person on this planet! So when my Big for household came to me and said that we were going to work on the virtue of patience my first thought was "well it can't get much worse...". So, here's my pearl of wisdom brought to you, as all things, through our Lady. "How was Mary patient?", you may be thinking. You're kidding right? She was told that she was going to have a baby! Out of wedlock! She had to endure 9 months of all the wonderful side effects of being pregnant WHILE traveling to Bethlehem on the back of a donkey! How many of you guys out there know a single woman who could endure all that without complaining at least once? Or beg God for it all to just be over and the baby to come? Well, Mary is that single woman. She endured all the pains of labor, traveling right after giving birth, and the demands of the society she lived in without once questioning God. If that's not patience I don't know what is. But, her patience doesn't just stop showing its self to us after his birth. No, she gets seven swords to the heart ("the seven sorrows of Mary") while watching her own flesh and blood die for not only her own salvation, but all of ours.
"While His crucifixion was for our salvation, the Bible says His death is also an example for our lives. When we are worn down during our daily tasks we are reminded in Hebrews 12:2, 3, 'Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.' "
The author of the above article continues on to talk about how Jesus was also very patient while training his disciples, which is something that I never considered but is so true. Just imagine having to tutor a group of men like the disciples in anything! Always questioning and doubting you and, especially after a really hard concept, getting up and leaving you after spending so much time with you living the way you taught them! It would drive me crazy. This same patience is continuous to this  day. It's amazing what our God puts up with. We doubt, curs his name, and many more things that, if done to any of us, would at the least cause an unrepairable break in friendship. This is not the case with Our Father! He waits for us. No matter how long it takes, he will always be on the other side of that door waiting for us to hear him knocking and allow him into our hearts.
I hope that my thought process wasn't to confusing to anyone. I try and express everything but sadly my skill are still needing improvement.
I hope God continues to bless you,
Clara
