Yep! Yesterday was my birthday! I was absolutely amazing! Went out with my household sisters and boyfriend to Texas Roadhouse and then proceeded to go into a food coma while watching Say Yes to the Dress online when I got home. But the best part had almost nothing to do with me. We had a FOP (festival of praise) which is where people congregate in the gym and have about two hours of praise and worship along with a procession of the eucharist through the aisles of people. And while I personally didn't get some crazy revolution I did find my joy in God and in praising him again which was just amazing! It wonderful the gifts he can give you that seem so small but in the end are mountains. But enough about me, the part that just made my day was when my boyfriend was sitting down writing and he slowly laid down on the ground and just rested. I'll admit at first I thought he'd fallen asleep and wasn't sure what to do when he was still out and Christ was about to walk by us (the priest with the monstrance). But, right as the priest got in front of him he sat up with this huge grin on his face. He told me later that when he woke up and there was this overflow of peace inside him and that he felt he could finally silence his internal dialogue and sit in silence with Christ. He told me that it felt like he was conscious during an extremely lucid dream.
The reason that this means so much to me is very simple. The goal of a relationship is to help the other get close to Heaven, and while I wasn't the one who made him rest in the spirit, he never would have gone to the FOP if I hadn't recommended it.
So the moral of the story is that God can do amazing things with the smallest actions. He can take the worst moments of your life and transform them into something beautiful. He can make you realize that while what you were doing was right and good, and then throw in something to make it even better that you never would have thought of. Just keep in mind the words of scripture that God was found in the "still small voice" and not on the loudspeaker. He's extremely, annoyingly, subtle! So just keep and eye out. But you must be careful that you don't go reading into every little thing and saying that God wants you to do something because it was spelled out in your soup.
Good luck out in the world,
Clara
